Was Anyone Else Afraid Of The Bathroom As A kid ?

For many years I have had a problem with taking a bath. When I was a child, about two or three years old my mother tells me that I would cry and resist every bath time. I'm sure that this is true of many, but my story goes a little bit further than just soap or shampoo in the eyes or the sensation of being forced into water and submerged without knowing. I also never liked the confinement of such a small room, and as you will read, I DON'T like mirrors!

I had a "babysitter" when I was about six years old. She seemed strange to me even at that time. I could sense a feeling of wrong or emptyness from her. She was about twenty years old, and she had long dark bangs that covered her eyes. She would always read her books and we didn't talk much.

One night I'll never forget (or forgive) She had started the bath water, she saw me screaming as I begged her not to put me in. Never the less I was pushed in a bit hard, I slipped and tryed to grasp her hand, she let me go. I sank below the surface of the tub quickly. I panicked rushing my hands above. I remember hearing unclear laughter from above the meanacing water, and then sorrowed cries. I must have lost conciousness, the next thing I could recall was that I was on a sailboat in the middle of a peaceful lake. An old woman was in the boat and smiled at me with a wink.

When I awoke there was my mom and dad looking down at me with tears in their eyes. I was still in the bathroom but they could not see me. I noticed that the mirror above the sink was broken to pieces, it covered the floor in a bloodstained mess. I looked back up and my parents were gone. The lights went out and the frame of what use to be the mirror lit up. When I looked into it I saw the babysitter, this time I could see her face. She looked old now and was sad with blood for tears.

A voice came to me claimimg that I was her baby! I was pulled into a darkness that I cannot escape!... I can still see when people come to the mirror, ALL MIRRORS!

How it changed my life:

I ddidn't have the fear myself, but all three of my kids were morbidly afraid of being sucked down the bathtub drain, or sucked down the toilet when it was flushed. They were terrified, and I never understood where that fear came from...unless it was watching cartoons...
Date: 7/17/2007 8:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 30097    I confess to having nightmares after seeing 'Look Who's Talking' with the talking toilet o_O

Date: 7/17/2007 8:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 64497    When I was a little kid I always thought that I a shark would eat me in the bathroom. Hehe, I guess I watched too many shark movies. -Callice

Date: 7/17/2007 8:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 5301    ...I never had a problem with the bathroom. I've always felt a bit like Superman in there, all alone in my "Fortress of Solitude". Even Superman had to take time out to think every once in a while.
Date: 7/17/2007 9:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 3263    I was always afraid that something was going to come out of the toilet and get me!
Date: 7/18/2007 12:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 62423    Not the bathroom, but I was afraid of indoor pools as a kid. They still kinda creep me out.

Date: 9/17/2007 7:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 63998    Everyone probably did and after my friends forced me to do bloody mary with them i had a fear of mirrors since
Date: 11/24/2007 5:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 62095    This was a great story. Creepy. I have never liked bathrooms but the only reason for that is the mirror. I heard to many bloody mary stories growing up and then "Candyman" came out and I and then I lost all hope.
