This legend has been around since 1135 A.D.
It is written on the srolls of the wise men of Woolpit, in Suffolk England. which at that time was ruled under the reign of King Stephen (or Stephen King)
There were hard working farmers harvesting the land one bright and feverishly hot afternoon. as their workday was coming to an end they heard the tragic screams of panicing children coming from the underbrush just next to the enterence of a small cave. as the weary farmers made it close to the mouth of the cave, a fadeing afterglow of a greyish-green myst was emitting from the walls within. a foul smell followed the diminishing haze.
The crying of the frighten children was heard once more. upon further investigation indeed there were two children,a boy and a girl, shaking. they had green overtones to their flesh. the clothing they had on was also not known, it was sharp and viberaint, it reflected the sun and was ever so blinding. one farmer reached out his hand attempting to help them. the boy lashed out a violent reaction and bit the farmer on the wrist, the boy fell back clutching his throat while green blood dripped from the farmers forearm. the sobbing girl put her hand on the boys forehead as she mummbled something in a language never heard before, her voice was screeching yet calming to all that listened.
By nightfall the two green children had grown too weary to fight. they were taken to Sir Richard De Calne (he was a powerful man of the community and they were to be for his amusement)
The girl was calm now and would only stand by a corner looking at the wall, it seemed as if she knew she was captive. the boy was not so cooperative, he was held by some guardsmen as he struggled about. the girl finaly spoke something and the boy joined her at the corner wall.
The man whom was bitten was quickly treated, and then sent on his way.
They were offered fruits and bread to eat but would shun them away although still very hungry. the children soon fell to the floor weeping as one of the farmers was carrying fresh bean stalks by. the children seemed to smell it right away, the bean stalks were not cleaned or even cooked but the children began to grab at them right away. they could not open the bean pods and started weeping once more. soon the pods were cut open and they vigerously ate them right away.
In time the girl had learned to do the wash and even prepare meals. her color began to find a proper skin tone although still very pale. the green boy however grew weak and was taken away for medical examinations. he was never seen again. and the poor farmer who had been bitten grew ill, his skin tone turned a light green and within a few months he was dead.
Working in the large castle was not an easy task, the more she learned to do the more work she was given. each day as she would tend to the garden she would hear agonizing screams coming from the basement. she often pointed to the downstairs walkway, but never was permitted to go down there.
Years had passed and the girl had become a beautiful young lady. she married a man from King Lynn in Northfork. she was tought to speak. and as soon as she could, the incredible story of what had happened to her and her brother became spread across the land.
She told of a place where there was no sunrise nor any sundown. a place where hayzey clouds were seen, and there was a dull blurish light half lit in this skies dimention. it was called St. Martins land and just about everyhting was green in hue. she and her brother had been following their "flock" through the dense forest when they had become curious of a nearby cave. they had always been warned not to venture anywhere near there, and not to go loosing their head with curiousity. they did not listen. they walked in as the pit was dark and felt of cold wind, suddenly the earth below had vanished, the last thing she remembered was neverending falling and then the brightest light to ever been seen. next were the farmers that found them. although she could remember those events it seemed her chilhood was a bit lost. she wanted to find out what had become of her brother.
She was taken back to the castle of Sir Richard. he had long since died, but the girl was still allowed in. she recaled the basement that she was always curious about. this time she would take the walk underground, and find out its secrets.
The huge woodframed door was locked but she soon picked it open. as she walked in she gasped a loud cry. there were long tall shelves with tortured human body parts enslaved into jars. one of which desplayed the head of her dead brother!
She grabbed the jar and then ran up the stairs. she gave out a piercing scream in her language of old. the sound was forceful and so loud that it shook the whole house! it shattered every mirror and destroyed everyones ears. she cryed out again. this time killing everyone in sight. her thoughts had blackened as her skin turned green once more.
She found her way back to the cave in which they were found. a green shadowy being was standing there. she sobbed as she held the unsightly jar for the being to see... it looked her up and down, then spoke in her language, "i tryed to tell your brother not to go and loose his head because he wanted to find out what was in the cave!" a light surrounded them and just like that they were gone.
