I smoked for over 10 years but was never a big smoker. Like a pack lasted 2-3 days vs a pack a day + for most smokers. I started cutting down around december-January into February. Then my last cig was Feb. 4 and I just never touched one after that. 1) the price per pack 2) in jersey no more smoking in bars 3) got tired of my clothes and hair just reaking of it. 4) we were trying to get pregnant. Here it is May and I'm 9 weeks pregnant so I'm glad I quit. It was easy for me to quit cold turkey though. I don't know why I just did it. I just didn't think about it. I got tired of feeling like crap every morning when I woke up. |

(Hi ;P) Yea, I know what you mean. When I would wake up I would feel groggy and first I would want to do was smoke. I dont plan on telling any of my friends that Im stopping because it would just be an issue to talk about which like you, Im not trying to think about it. Makes it so much easier. |

My father was a heavy smoking and he tried everything then he went to a hypnotist for a number of sessions. Paid thousands but hasn't smoked since he completed his sessions (which was many years ago). I have a problem with throwing away cigarets. I feel like I would be throwing away money. So fare so good and I predict you will go at for the long run Wood. |

One day 21yrs ago I threw my pack of ciggies in the bin after deciding I didn't like the taste in my mouth and the smell in my clothes and house...and I'd smoked for many many years, best thing I ever did...I never judge anyone who does smoke though, its purely a personal decision... |

i never got the need to smoke so i never started(i even worked in a smoke shop for a number of years!)..your doing a great thing for your health.. i really think it's a personal decision to stop smoking you can't make anyone if they are not ready.. it's amazing how expensive smoking has become.. as for your car.. get a bottle of fabreeze it's about 4 bux or so and spray it everywhere in the car.. it will help absorb the stale smoking odor from your car and smell nicer |

It's been 5 yrs. since I last smoked. I quit when I found out I was pregnant with my little boy. I do miss them, I won't lie, BUT I feel so much better since I quit and I don't catch colds as easily now. |

Mid, one thing that really wanting me to stop was when I notice about 6 empty packs sitting on my dresser so I timed it by 6 and came to a not so pretty number of bucks I spend a week on killing myself. I spray my car constantly with an air freshener. Maybe it will work better this time being that I wont be smoking in the car as Im spraying it. |

O Im already putting the money I save from not smoking to good use. I figure as long as it doesn't go to smoking, anything else you spend it on has to be better, right? |

it's amazing how much people spend on odd things when they think about it.. like coffee addicts who often get coffee out at say starbucks you average $4 per coffee that really adds up |

I have been without a cigarette for 10 days. I am crabby as heck. I have been nibbling on snacks, and when the craving is REALLY bad, I pop a Altoids Dark Chocolate Dipped Mint in my mouth. I don't know that I can quite this time. I have quite before, and I had stopped during my months long bout of Pnemonia. Then I started again in April & quit again. So, we'll see. |

Spirit, buy the gum! I think any and everyone should have some aid in stopping the cycle (if the craving becomes nuts) How are those mints? Good luck to you. |

Yea Mid, those 'coffee people' are crazy. whats really worse, coffee or smokes. Both can be exspensive and damaging to your health and pocket in the long run. |

My kids were my motivation. They nagged at me, quoting figures etc. But the big one was when they stopped giving me lots of kisses 'cos they said my breath stank of smoke. I used the patches and have been smoke free for 4 years on the 28th of this month!!!!! I hate the smell of the stuff now, turns my stomach. Keep up the great work, one day at a time, before you know it, it will be 2 weeks, then 3 then 4 months. If you wanna give up, you will, eventually!! |
