It's about not giving up no matter what happens. The spider tries and fails the first time, but tries to go up again. Who knows if it succeeds or not. Don't give up!!! That's what I always got from it.

I remember being a toddler and hearing this story from my mommy. Not to mention the cute hand motions that go with this rhyme.
