THE WORST WEEKEND EVER

A week before Christmas I was making a list of what I still needed to buy. I realized that I had to buy a certain gift my son had been wanting for a while. So my husband and I got dressed and went to the mall around 8:00 o’clock Friday, well we go into the toy store and bought his gift but as soon as we got out of the store I slipped on a spilled drink in the hallway. I was pretty embarrassed but also pretty pregnant. I was 31 weeks pregnant and when I fell I hit the side of my stomach as well as my back on the wall. Two men helped me up and I called the mall security, after 3 calls and 30 minutes, they finally came to take my claim. Then suddenly I began to cramp and I told my husband to take me the hospital to make sure the twins were okay. The E.R staff was very friendly and I didn’t wait too long to be seen but maybe it was because they thought I was in labor!! After explaining to them why I came in they put me in a room and put some machines and monitors just to make sure the twins were okay. Then the doctor comes in and tells me that I had to stay there until Sunday to monitor the babies’ heartbeats. They had to put an IV on me and it burned and itch so bad! The first night was horrible I had to lie completely on my back so they could hook up the monitors on my stomach. I have trouble breathing when I lay on my back because the babies push on my lungs plus I had just hurt my back with the fall and all that night I cried and cried because I was in so much pain. The second night was not soo bad other than feeling like I was hyperventilating thankfully to God, my babies were just fine and I was able to go home Sunday night. I’m just glad that it was over and hopefully when I do go back to the hospital when I’m going to deliver I won’t be in too much pain

Date: 1/10/2007 1:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 21839    I am glad the babies are ok... I know that was a tramatic experience... Let us know when they get here... God bless.
Date: 1/10/2007 2:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 30747    That must of been so heartbreaking for you but thank goodness the babies are okay. Is there any recourse you can take against the Mall? I know it turned out alright but did you damage your back at all?
Date: 1/10/2007 2:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    I am so glad you and the babes are okay, but sorry you had to go through that. The Mall housekeeping department should have had that mess cleaned up...and whoever spilled it should have alerted the store that there was a hazard in the hallway. Hugs, Nani

Date: 1/10/2007 2:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 63194    I am glad the babies are okay - I am disapointed in the people who think you should get something from the mall though... its possible they didnt know about the spill - shame on the person who spilled it, not the mall.
Date: 1/10/2007 4:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 30747    Ben, it was an unfortunate accident but if she hurt her back someone has to be responsible for it and that is what insurance is for. I know that in the malls around here they hire more maintainance then security for this very reason. If she should need medical attention in the future for her back...would it be fair that she would have to pay the medical bills or lost wages? It's the same thing as if someone were to accidentally slide their car into yours on a slippery road...you wouldn't expect to pay for the damages. That is what your insurance is for.
Date: 1/10/2007 5:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 63302    lawsuit?
Date: 1/10/2007 5:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 63194    Slippery road says it all.
Date: 1/10/2007 5:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 63194    ...and that logic is one of the main reasons why insurance is so expensive for those of us who d ont abuse it - because others say "Hey! that is what insurance is for!" - Such insurance should only be used if the intent of the mall was to trip her and hurt her back -
Date: 1/10/2007 5:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 63194    Not to mention it is one of the busiest times of the year for malls.
Date: 1/10/2007 7:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 62579    I feel for you that must have been horrible. I am over 13 weeks.
Date: 1/10/2007 11:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 34078    You see, national health care would take care of all this. When are we going to wake up.
Date: 1/10/2007 11:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 63575    Well I'm just glad you and the twins are ok - I do have to say that you might want to talk to some one who knows about insurance claims - incase you did do something to your back in the fall - my suggestion is to look into it - or have some one look into it for you - before too much time passes
Date: 1/11/2007 1:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 62918    I'm sorry that this happened and I'm glad that your babies are Happy and healthy... but I agree with Ben... Wow, two more weeks! I'm so happy for you!
Date: 1/11/2007 1:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 19586    I am glad to hear your babies are ok..
