Back from NYC interview .::Miss Jeni::.

Hello everyone!

Thank you again for the well-wishes. The interview actually went quite well.

The first person I met with was the IT guy. He told me that I met all his requirements (yay!).

The second person I met with was the administrator for the department. She told me that the competition in NYC is fierce, but I was a strong candidate.

The third person I met with was a researcher. She seemed impressed with my qualifications.

The job is actually a writing job with no design involved. They need someone to add a lot of content to their page, and ensure the quality of it. One of their main objectives is to add content that puts diagnosis information into layman's terms.

What I'm thinking of doing is putting together a mockup of a sample page, where I take some diagnostic terms and put them into plain English. That way they'll have a sample of my writing directly related to the job.

What's crazy is that my train ride home was delayed by three hours!!! Not only did my train not pass inspection (and need some maintenance to get it to pass), but there was a scare that stopped all trains from going in out of the station. They kept referring it to as "police activity outside the station", but I later found out that an drum containing hydraulic fluid fell off a work train near the NY/NJ border. In the US -- especially during a period of high terror alert -- the authorities take no chances when it comes to abandoned objects.

During my wait at the station (before the scare) I got a phone call for an interview with another company. This one is in the city I live in.

I may be getting yet another interview; this one is with another company in my city. I got a letter today from the NYS Dept of Labour for an office assistant with graphics needed at an unspecified company. I contacted the recruiter -- a staffing firm -- and haven't heard back since I sent my resume.

I'll keep you all posted.

Best,

Jeni

Date: 8/23/2006 10:21:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 33256    Got an update for ya: I emailed the administrator for the NYC job, telling her about a custom project I was working on to give an example of my work. I got an email back from her and she told me not to make too big a deal of it, as my resume speaks volumes. Sounds like good news to me! She said she would be getting back to me in the next couple of weeks. Just thought I'd pass that on Cheers,
