Date: 7/5/2006 2:11:00 PM From Authorid: 62881 Try China since that is where a lot of companies are moving to....J/K! ...Really though, you just have to look around to see what's available. Not many major companies are hiring here...except for mine...and we just hired 30 last Friday. It depends on your work history, what you are qualified to do, and are willing to do, then you just look to see what's out there that fits you. |
Date: 7/5/2006 3:19:00 PM From Authorid: 58078 I live in Jersey and have a few friends in that field. One lives in New York but the rest are in Jersey. |
Date: 7/5/2006 3:23:00 PM From Authorid: 49101 I'm in Florida and there is a lot of work here. But you're right, the cost of living is high in some places. In other places it is moderate, but still in the upper end of the scale. NY is even more expensive. Noirthern states I think are good places to live. |
Date: 7/5/2006 3:30:00 PM From Authorid: 25390 They say that once in Texas; always in Texas. ;-) Seriously though, the cost of living is a lot lower here than a lot of places and the Dallas, Austin, and Houston areas are always hiring for graphic designers. |
Date: 7/5/2006 4:22:00 PM From Authorid: 58334 Eh...they're all being taken by foreigners. |
Date: 7/5/2006 4:36:00 PM From Authorid: 13297 I suggest using the web to search - go to monster or careerbuilder and search for the specific job. I am sure you can find something - especially if you are open-minded to relocation. Good luck! |
Date: 7/5/2006 5:08:00 PM From Authorid: 63194 you have to remember though that where the cost of living is high, in most cases the wages match... but... at the same time, there are also places where cost of living far outweighs that of wages... |
Date: 7/5/2006 5:15:00 PM From Authorid: 7574 Don't go to northern Virginia..Everything is so expensive there.. |
Date: 7/5/2006 8:00:00 PM From Authorid: 61996 I read the other day that Texas was the place to go for cheaper living.Lets hope so,thats where we're going.Best wishes. |

Date: 7/6/2006 12:15:00 PM From Authorid: 3321 Yes, I'd love to know where all these great jobs for the college educated population are, as well... |
Date: 7/6/2006 6:42:00 PM From Authorid: 10245 I don't know about web or graphic design, but workers are needed in almost every sector in Hawaii, but stay away from Ouahu if you value your sanity. |
Date: 7/6/2006 6:48:00 PM From Authorid: 10245 ... and every one will tell you that it's really expensive to live there. From the research we've been doing over the last year or so, it very much depends which island you choose to live on. The Big Island (Hawaii) is comparable on property and real estate pricing to where we live now, and in many cases much more inexpensive. Again, stay away from Ouahu, but this time for affordability |
Date: 7/7/2006 12:27:00 PM From Authorid: 52489 Go to Monster.com to see jobs. |
Date: 7/7/2006 1:53:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 33256 So...TX, FL, HI and NYC/NJ...thanks so much guys! I will try those. |
Date: 7/7/2006 4:23:00 PM From Authorid: 47218 outside of geographic location, you might consider webmarketing. I was just reading that this field is hot, hot, hot. They can't find enough people to fill jobs. |
Date: 7/8/2006 12:15:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 33256 OK thanks! I'll look into that...I've done a little marketing |
Date: 7/8/2006 6:53:00 PM From Authorid: 3936 I dunno, jobs are so hard to find nowadays |
Date: 7/22/2006 10:12:00 PM From Authorid: 63902 The only one I can be sure about is New York, but I know what ya mean about the cost. In any case, I'd look into it, because who knows? =-] Much love and peace - Hayley (HMC) |
Date: 7/23/2006 2:28:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 33256 I've been sending my resumes to some employers in NYC...I am going to try and see if I can get a job first before moving there...I haven't had much luck doing that, but I can't afford to move there without a job. Thanks for the advice! |
