I have to roll my eyes on this one. Seems to me it is the democrats who find abortion the sacred issue. As I have pointed out on other posts, in the last election Protestant voters went for Bush 55 percent, catholics were evenly balanced 49 for Gore 47 for Bush, Evangelicals 41 percent are registered Republicans, 30 percent democrats and 30 percent Independents. So please drop the myth that religious people are wild-eyed one issue voters. |

I'm sorry, but I do see this as an issue with Christians and it keeps many of them from voting like they really want to. Even ministers on television are getting into the act, spreading around the guilt. |

Hi Songbird. I definitely agree that focusing on one issue can truly confuse the whole issue of the election. I have a few friends and even a sister who are very religious and who have told me that they are basing their vote on the abortion issue...only....period. I think in the past this was easier to do, since there weren't so many other extremely important issues on the table and so much at risk for this country. I think you make an excellent point. I too hope that people will evaluate all the issues and not get stuck on only one when balancing their decision for either candidate. It is excellent that you bring up that point. |

I really would hope people would not vote based on one issue, abortion for example. You might be pro-choice or pro-life but maybe the candidate that shares these views with you isn't the best one. I share the same abortion views as the candidate I am voting for, but I am basing my vote on a whole lot more then that. |

In all respect Songbird, you say "I just hope people will be strong enough and sensible enough to THINK FOR THEMSELVES and make the right choices on Tuesday." Yet you make a post pulling for Democrats...LOL....Ill not get inot the political thing here but maybe for some people this is THE big issue? Fpr me, its not but for some maybe they do not way a prez thats for it whether his party is or not. But your telling people to "listen to what I have to say" basicly and "Republicans are using this angle to confuse people and make them feel guilty." "I am a Democrat" "Abortion is just one issue and it is not going to go away just because you elect a bunch of Republicans. " How can you make remarks like that and then say "I just hope people will be strong enough and sensible enough to THINK FOR THEMSELVES and make the right choices on Tuesday." BTW, I am a registered Democrat although I dont think Ill vote for Kerry

Reguardless of who you vote for President, it will make no diffrence in the abortion issue. It is congress that makes the laws; that is where people concerned about abortion should focus their voting power on. The congress has been so evenly divided over the past few years that very little has been done... changing (or keeping) a president won't have any effect on that. |

There is a huge difference between expressing your views as a member of a forum and telling a person how to vote when you are in a position of spiritual authority ... often times done by manipulating a person through guilt regarding their own standing in the christian religion. |

I'm a Democrat but I'm not telling any of you to vote Democratic. I'm just saying please don't make abortion the only deciding issue when you vote. |

UMMM...I don't know one person that's making their decision soley because of abortion. I know it's just one of MANY reason NOT TO ELECT Scary Kerry into office. He has a LOT LESS going for him, than just being pro-choice, so it's not like you're telling anyone that's not voting for him, anything they didn't already know. A person that truly is INFORMED, looks at all issues but if abortion is one of the most important issues to them...they should vote accordingly. |

Well abortion is a HUGE issue! God turned his back on Sodam and Gomarrah remember?! He can turn his back on us too if we do all the things that God hates. I am a democrat, but now I vote more republican because of my christian beliefs. I dont like Kerry at all. Yes, if he gets elected the economy probably will get better which is true for democrats in office BUT when Kerry starts passing things like gay marriage and allowing all abortions even partial birth abortions, God might just turn his head and allow another terroist attacsk on our country. I know some of you will read this and think I am nuts, but I know what I believe is true without a doubt and someday you will too. |
