Saul a slayer of Christians,

9 But Saul, still breathing threat and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, in order that he might bring bound to Jerusalem any whom he found who belonged to The Way, both men and women.

3 Now as he was traveling he approached Damascus, when suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him, 4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” 5 He said: “Who are you, Lord?” He said: “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 6 Nevertheless, rise and enter into the city, and what you must do will be told you.” 7 Now the men that were journeying with him were standing speechless, hearing, indeed, the sound of a voice, but not beholding any man. 8 But Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were opened he was seeing nothing. So they led him by the hand and conducted him into Damascus. 9 And for three days he did not see anything, and he neither ate nor drank.

Date: 1/30/2004 12:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    Interesting passages PamyJo This is telling of the conversion of Paul to Christ. Paul was a well educated man and was devoted to the old law of Moses. He had thought the way that was being taught by the apostles was going against the laws of Moses. By attempting to stop the followers of this 'new religion', he thought he was doing what was expected of him. In verse 15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he (Paul) is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. Paul was chosen of Christ to bring in the Gentile nation which had been prophesied many times in the O.T. At this time, the Gentiles had not been brought in.

Date: 1/30/2004 12:50:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 160    Yes he was zealous in his persecution of Christians. He had to literally be shaken to the core to understand what he was doing. You have the answer Barb, right in front of your face. Sometimes we can't see the simpler things for the details.

Date: 1/30/2004 1:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 27534    His conversion took place on the road to Damascus but is considered to have begun at the stoning of Stephen.
Date: 1/30/2004 2:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 160    I know that he was a witness to that stoning of Stephen but I do feel that what happened to him on that road caused him to change radically.
Date: 1/30/2004 10:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    posting Bible passages is fine. But, shouldn't you follow it up with a commentary about how, and why it means something to you? Also, didn't Saul, become Paul? One of God's best disiples?
Date: 1/31/2004 5:48:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 160    Cathy, I don't want to go down this road again. Ginger herself moved this one to religion after I posted it in debate.
Date: 1/31/2004 7:37:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 160    And no I cannot follow up on a commentary because every time I do it starts a problem. What I am trying to do is to get people to READ THEIR BIBLES. Whether it be the KJV or any other versions, just read your bibles.
Date: 1/31/2004 10:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 54987    I remember being told this story when I was little and I loved it. A story of a spiritual transformation.
Date: 1/31/2004 10:52:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 160    I know of people that had animalistic behaviors that were transformed. Tempers that could be violent yet are as gentle as lambs today. Nothing short of a miracle to some, but to Jehovah nothing is impossible.
Date: 1/31/2004 8:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    Very good post pammyjo, even today, men/women are persecuting those that follow Christ, instead of going to the new covenant that God Jehovah has given us, ,they cling to the old convenant and wish to remain blind of what God has so freely given us.
