No idea. I never really had that problem with my cats, though they would lay on their back sunder the tree and swat at the branches and ornaments. |

*had the same prob. last year* put alot of cheep soft cat-friendly toys/ornaments at the bottom so the cat will only get those and go away cuz she/he/it got what they want! |

you could put vinegar around it, cats dont like the smell of vinegar, or go out and buy a squirt bottle and fill it with water and when the cat goes near the tree squirt it. I use the water bottle to discipline my kitties and it works wonderfully, now all I have to do is shake it at them and they run! |

AquaRose is right too. I did that with my cats when they were kittens to keep them off of the counter. and now they don't go up there. -Ashley |

I think a 12 Gauge would work nicely. |

I never found a way to keep my cats from taking my Christmas tree down for me. Usually, I went through the process of setting it back up and putting the decorations back on 3 times before I just put the tree away. I solved or rather my mother solved the problem by giving me a Christmas tree that can be hung on the wall. Thats what I have used for the last few years. I can put my fragile beautiful ornaments up without fear now. |

i heard something about lemon or orange peels keep them outta plants, so maybe if you hang a few of those deep in the tree, in the branches, and around itunderneath, it should keep them away |

this is why you have a plate full of mixed nuts in thier shells still on your coffee table*LOL* no you put all your decorations higher(not on lo wbranches) and get a squirt bottle... whenever they go for it say "NO" in a stern voice and squirt them |

I was wondering the answer to this question myself. We have a new kitty this year and he's so mean. I know for sure when we put our tree up, he'll knock it down while we're all asleep. |

Try making it wet or placing the bottom in a large container of water. My cat has the habit of trying to EAT our tree! -Sparky the WonderDog |

I remember when I lived at home...we had a cat...and had the same problem with it climbing in the tree and playing with the ornaments...I remember my mom wrapping a piece of newspaper up and when she seen the cat go near the tree she would hit the paper in her other hand which made a noise...And the cat would run away scared to death...She did this for 2 days or so...and then she laid the wrapped newspaper beside the Christmas tree...The cat would not go past the newspaper...LOL!!...(pretty smart old lady I have there eh?)LOL!!...**Big Canadian Hugs** |

Put a statue of a MEAN doggie in front of the tree, might scare the kitty away but won't touch the tree.. well seriously tho I'm not sure what to do about this cause I never had the problem with my cat, was the dog that liked knockin over the tree |

*scratches BCAR*..wait, I can't, I'm declawed. The only thing that worked for me was, to not put a tree up. That's drastic, but we got tired of everything that a cat could possibly do to a tree, and the ornaments. |
