Glamis Castle, Scotland (say Glahms) is claimed to be the most haunted castle in the United Knigdom. The site in Shakespare's play "MacBeth" where King Duncan is killed, and birthplace of Princess Magaret and home of the Earls of Glamis, it is one of Scotland's oldest castles. It is rumored to be home of a plethora of ghosts, a monstrous baby and a vampire, and here I will post the most famous stories.

Gambling with the Devil ------ One of the most famous stories is that of an Earl who plays cards with the devil. The story goes that one night, the Earl at the time was heavily drunk when he commanded his servants to play cards with him. They turned down the oppurtunity, saying it was early in the morning of the Sabbath. The Earl was so angry that he said he would play cards with the devil if he arived. There was instantly a knock on the door, and the Earl answered "Come in in the fiend's name!" the door opened and the devil himself was there, and he had in his hands a deck of cards. From that night on the Earl is damned to play cards with the devil into the Day of Judgement, and although the room was sealed up, on some nights you can here him cursing and the shuffling of a deck.

The Monstrous Child ------ Another tale speaks of the heir to be Earl, a child born hideously deformed. The horrified parents were so disgusted to have a son born this way that they sealed up the child in a secret room, still alive. But the child lived to a great age, an one day in the 1800's a worker was renovating the castle when he saw such a horrible sight he died of fright. They say he had uncovered the sealed room and saw the defromed Earl, in all of it's hideous glory, that he died. His wife was given money to prevent a scandal and promptly traveled to Australia to live.

The Bleeding Wall ------ Late one night a female guest was in her room, still awake in the dying light of the candle. She heard the sounds of swords clamering off each other, folowed by the disturbing sound of iron cutting through flesh and bone. To her horror, seeping through a crack in the wall was a pool of darkened blood, seemingly fresh. Needless to say the woman refused to stay in the room again.

The Giant Knight ------ Another guest had a similar experience. It was late at night when she and her husband were lying in bed, asleep, when she awoke to the sound of footsteps. Shec saw the armoured figure of a knight pass her room, and she snuck out of bed to follow it. She saw it walk down the hall of the castle and dissapeared into the room of her young son. She followed, and her son was crying. He complained that a giant had leaned over his bed and stared down at him.

------ Today Glamis Castle is a tourist attraction, and each year thousands flock at the off chance of seeing one of its many ghosts.

Date: 4/25/2003 8:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 56927    This is horrible. What an aweful image it has left in my mind about cobwebs an discusting beetles crawling over my thighs, trying to eat some mud. The devil is not a man to messed around with.
Date: 4/25/2003 9:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 17156    Ok now I just can't sleep tonight. These we're intersting the on e that got to me the most was the one about the child and the parents disreguard because he was different. I have two children and I wouldn't care if they we're deformed as long as they we're healthy. I would never leave my child never ever... Thanks for the post Love and Hugs
Date: 4/29/2003 1:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 18155    Glamis might be more haunted by more ghosts but for pure evil, I think the Hermitage Castle, with its history of abducted and sarificed children to the devil by Lord Solis, along with his practice of the 'black arts'is not as famous but certainly more infamous.
