smile..maybe saddam is sick of the outcast standing of his country. People do change over time. Working with a established reformed leader could keep some stability in the region. -r1 |

R1, Can You be a bit more specific? What chemical weapons did he send and to where? If You are talking about the anthrax in the states it has been confirmed that that Anthrax came from You own militairy and was produced at Fort Dietrich. Bye for now. Enki |

Yes he did. He was at war with Iran. That town decided to side with Iran in the war. They were traitors and so he used a chemical weapon against them. It may not be a nice thing to do but it is his country and it was his war. The US has used chemical weapons in the past and is still doing so today. Should we go bomb the states and impose sanctions against the states too? Bye for now. Enki |

Enki, YOU are a bit DISGUSTING at times with you neat and tidy little OPINIONS and half truths. You make Saddam sound like such a nice man. And you always write in such a way to make America look like this MONSTROUS, UNLAWFUL, HELLACIOUS country. IT NEVER ENDS with you! Hey! Could you take on and knock at least one OTHER country!?? PLEASE! |

Good Morning Thinker. I am glad You brought this up. I actually thought of doing a post on it. Now I dont like Saddamm a whole lot but in my reading I have come to understand why he did what he has done and I also didnt like the way some folks within Govt. used false testimony to a congressional or Senate meeting vote which decided whether or not America would launch a war against Iraq. PLEASE understand that when I post these things I am not attacking Americans, I am however critical of some elements within Your Govt. who pursue a foreign policy that is self serving. Thinker, use Your search engine and do a search on Depleted Uranium which the US uses on thier shells and bombs. That stuff leaves radio active dust in the ara where it explodes that lasts for who knows how long. The result is cancers, leukemia and birth defects. Basically the US will be maiming and killing kids in that country for hundreds of years into the future. Also, Kuwait was carved out of Iraq and recognised as an independant country in 1961 by the British. Historically it has always been Iraqi territory. The Kuwaiti's were slant drilling into Iraq's southern oil reserves. Saddam decided to take back what is rightfully Iraq's territory. US oil interests decided to intervene. At first the congress was reluctant and were going to vote against any military action. Someone brought a little girl to the hearings and she testified that she had seen Iraqi soldiers staling incubators and throwing sick babies on the floor to die. This outragd the world. Turns out the little girl was the neice of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US and hadnt even been in Kuwait. It was all a lie and a manipulation and who profited,,, the oil companies and the arms merchants. Who suffers, the little children of Iraq who play outside and have radioactive dust cling to them from the Depleted Uranium. Hope You understand why I feel that an injustice has been done in Iraq. Bye for now. Enki |

Enki, NO DOUBT ; NO question with regards to the many kinds of things you speak of that the U.S. does or has done; HOWEVER....I have read TONS of material on Saddam Hussein and the thugs he surrounds himself with; their atrocities against their own people and even their own families; he has had members of his own family murdered. I saw an interview done with his sister-in-law, that painted a picture of a cruel, inhuman terrorist. No matter what the U.S. has done, we don't have tyrants, terrorists and thugs at the controls! IF.....I say: IF WE WERE as bad as that, then why wouldn't we give a rats patootie how many civilians we killed in a war; why would we not have annihilated the whole country along with Saddam; or even Afghanistan for that matter? We DO have the capabilities to do so. Also, WHAT would YOU suggest; what would YOU propose; and HOW , with regards to our policies since our nation is so dependent on OIL?? Say YOU were the president of THIS country; wouldn't YOU protect your interests too? I see so many attacking; complaining about everything but hardly ever giving any solutions, except maybe the old worn out "America should butt out or mind their own biz" type of thing. |

When the most radical of countries of the Middle East come to peace, it ususally means bad things for Isreal. Right now, Israel is upsetting a lot of the free world with the way it is conducting itself on the Palestinian issue. If Iraq and Iran were to join forces, it would create a military machine that the free world would be hard pressed to control. The countries of NATO are still heavily involved in the Balkans, we have used up a lot of equipment and munitions in Afghanistan, and the Russians still have their problems with breakaway states. It would take very little for these two countries working together to shut down the Persian Gulf. Iran already has the capability, compliments of the Chinese, to strike any vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz. One of the reasons we did not take out Saddam in the Gulf War was the powere vacuum it would have left in that region. It would have left Iraq in the hands of Irani friendly forces, and the Saudi government had as much to fear from Iran as anyone, especially since they had gained a fairly modern Air Force after Iraqi pilots flew their aircraft over the border. It has also been some time now since weapons inspectors have been in Iraq. Enough time for Saddam to build quite a bit of munitions to carry on a full scale chemical war. Iran is also afraid it may end on the list of countries that support terrorism. This would make it a prime target for future attacks. If these two countries are talking peace, it can only mean bad things to come for the rest of the region, and the world. ...<Warrior Spirit> |

Hi Thinker, I agree Saddam does surround himself with thugs, but many people would say the same of Clinton and Bush. How many close associates of Clinton died under mysterious circumstances. Now we have two top level Executives who were going to cooperate with the Enron investigators who were both found in thier vehicles dead, from gun shots to the head. Both supposedly left suicide notes. Very suspicious. As to what would I do if I were president. First thing I would do is get America off that fiat money system. I would also suspend the right of the ederal Reserve to print money and determine its value. Fed. Reserve is a privately owned corporation for those who may not know and they determine the value of the US Dollar and many other financial aspects that affect our lives. I would also appoint a commitee to study all those genious inventions that can run cars on hydrogen and stuff like that and develop those ideas. Those ideas and patents and inventions have been bought up and suppressed by the major oil companies. In the meantime we keep using the fossil fuels that are so dirty and polluting while we fail to explore alternative energy sources. The problem is the oil millionaires and Billionaires are in charge of American foreign policy and as long as they are in charge nothing will change. No research will be done, no new technologies will be explored and wars will continue. The reason they pursue the middle east oil is it is easier to pump and the labour costs are much much cheaper. Again the oil companies pursuing profits at the expense of US jobs, as if they dont make enough profits already. Bye for now. Enki |

R1, I think that Iran is realizing that they are the true target, as fundamentalism began to rear it's head in the late 70's and early 80's, in Iran. Perhaps they are joining together to defend themselves from US, as surely we will be going after them, cause we've got a culture of people to destroy, after all. |
