I am not a thief!

I went to the mall today, with my brother to finish up the last of my Christmas shopping. I had only one gift left to buy and I knew what store would have it.

We enter, not a big fan of malls I headed straight for this little collectable shop that I go to every year to get my mom's gift. We had not been in the store for 2 minutes the store manager was following me around, she wasn't being subtle either she was standing there, arms crossed and staring at me. I tried to ignore her as I looked at the fairy figurenes(sp?).

The lady had the gall to come up to me and say: "Excuse me, I don't appreciate people like you in my store. Besides, most the things in here are expensive". Very offended now, amazingly I held my temper, thanks to my brother mainly who convinced me to take my money elsewhere. I tried to leave, but that wacky lady called security on me. I had to sit in this back room, have all my things including me searched (which I don't think they can do), and all the while I can hear this woman telling her empoyees about people like that are trouble they are nothing but thieves. I heard one of her employees try to defend me (bless her heart) only to hear the woman say: "No, she obviously doesn't have good intentions, she was wearing the devil's mark". Devil's mark oh give me a break it's called a pentagram or pentacle and it has nothing to do with Satanism!

Well after being searched of coarse they found nothing. Do I get an apology? No. She wouldn't even look toward me after that. Okay I admit I do come off rather punkish with all my piercings and my odd colored hair, but even so was this really called for.

Date: 12/20/2001 11:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 30229    Hmmmmmmm.... last time I read anything about a situation like this was in the newpaper where a family sued a store for harassing their teen. They won over a million dollars. This is grossly wrong and your parents should have a 'fit'!!! I know, if it were my kid I would... Good Luck...
Date: 12/20/2001 11:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 8224    No you shouldn't have been detained unless she had valid proof of your "alleged" actions - sounds like another religious zealot decided to blow her horn in your direction - I'd think about seeing an attorney concerning this and ask for him for a legal opinion. I wish people would stop judging others the way a book is usually judge by it's cover - the content is what counts not the outside window dressing. Sorry to hear you went through this - uncalled for as a case of cancer.
Date: 12/20/2001 11:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 26452    i know how you feel, grr i would make a complaint!something kinda like that happened to me,I was wearing my pentagram & ahnk(sp?) necklaces & the clerk was following me & stating at me watching my every move, and i dont even look that punckish! i have a few ear piercings,my necklaces & thats it! i wasn't even wearing all black that time and my hair's just blonde! I'm sorry thia happened to you, some people are just that way grrr. well, good luck, luv -->
Date: 12/21/2001 12:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 11348    No that wasn't called for at all... I wouldn't have been able to hold my temper! I too had some trouble with some store workers today. And I didn't do anything either. It makes me really mad when people jump to conclusions and blame people that don't need to be blamed. If I was you, I don't think I could ever go back in that store!
Date: 12/21/2001 12:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 43185    tell your parents. it does not matter what a person looks like, punk ,pierced, tatooted or their hair color!!!! people should not jump to conclusions or make judgements.my future sister in law , just graduated from college .she has kool-aide red/purple hair, and her eyebrow and tongue pierced and is planning to further her education and become a lawyer.looks are not what matters! sorry i got a little worked up here. vixi
Date: 12/21/2001 4:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 23037    that was awful , i would have went to jail cause that idiot would have gotten a peace of my mind , very loudly. lol.
Date: 12/21/2001 4:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 42259    You should sue! They cannot treat people like that!
Date: 12/21/2001 5:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 18527    I know how you feel. One evening I was at Zales jewlery store looking at a wedding band that caught my fancy. I had on a black blouse and long black skirt and a black trenchcoat, and I think I had dark lipstick and nailpolish. The store people wouldn't even LOOK at me. I stood there for 20 minutes until someone looked at my engagement ring and realized I was probably interested in buying something. They were very embarrased when I paid for the ring with cash... People suck, don't let anyone judge you based upon your appearance! Next time get a friend to wear a suit and go back and pretend he's a lawyer to scare that nasty old lady :P
Date: 12/21/2001 5:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 45397    Absolutely not...she was in the wrong and she should
owe you an apology....what if she was to go to YOUR store
and you did that to her and she didn't do anything...but you
called security on her because of her appearance...maybe she
shouldn't be working in a store at all...Wyndrune

Date: 12/21/2001 6:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 45866    No, I hate when people assume something just by the way you look or what you are wearing. My friends and I get treated like that alot because we wear pentacles. Especially when I wear my 'Satan's Lil Sister' shirt. ~TasteOfDeath~
Date: 10/20/2005 6:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 51292    HOW AWFUL! I cant stand people/stores like that. I live in Ky and theres not many nice stores around here. I like Estee Lauder cosmetics..and since wal mart doesnt seem to have them, I have to go to this fancy department store. Im not punk at all..I dont wear black or anything out of the ordinary and the woemen still follow me around. They sort of harrass me..they keep bugging me asking if i need help. I like to look around but its hard when someone is standing there staring at you. Im not the only one though..my cousin shops there also and they do it to her to. They are SO ANNOYING. If i were you..I would have sued that ladys behind! o.0
