I know alot of people post trivia. But, I think I found some original stuff --

In order to smuggle the corpse of saint Mark out of Alexandria, during the 9th century, the body was hidden in a barrel of pork. That way the Muslim border guards, by religious law, could not search the barrel.

In old Siam, white elephants were so rare, that they were automatically the property of the emperor. To punish people, the emperor would give them a white elephant, because while they had to care for it, it was forbidden to ride or work it.

In 1980, a Las Vegas hospital suspended workers for betting on when patients would die.

S.O.S. was chosen as the universal distress signal by the International Radio Telegraph Convention of July 1908 because this combination of letters, three dots followed by three dashes followed by three dots (...---...), was easy to send and easily recognized. The letters themselves are meaningless.

The United States Supreme Court once ruled Federal income tax unconstitutional. Income tax was first imposed during the Civil War as a temporary revenue-raising measure.
