Day 8
It was horrible in there. It was dark, and it smelled like wet fur. I woke up yesterday morning to the sound of shuffling on the dirt. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and saw something hideiously ugly. They resembled men and women, but their flesh was yellow and grey. Peices of rotting meat hung loosely upon their sickened body's, their features gaunt and weak, eyes rolled into the backs of their heads. They emitted low moans, peices of rotted flesh in between their teeth. I quickly jumped to my feet and screamed for the others to wake up. I began to summon energy for a spell when a zombie I hadn't seen lurched at me from my left. I fell to my right, the creature on top of me, it's breath stinking of death and decay. It tried to bite at me, i reached for something, anything that i could use to get this thing off of me. My hand found a rock, I pushed the rock into the creatures face, smashing it's rotting features. Blood and peices of skin and flesh fell upon my upper body. The creatures head was suddenly flying through the air, Korok was standing behind it brandishing a bloodied axe. I crawled out from underneath the corpse and threw up. Alakan knelt beside me and patted my back to comfort me. Nar went on his usual investigation. Korok was wiping the balde of his axe, and Ariana doing the same with her small-sword. After what little was in my stomach had left, I stood upon shaking legs, and went to go to the small waterhole not far away. Airan called to me, "Where are you going?" I replied, "To wash!"
But it was Korok who then spoke, "Why bother Young-One? You'll only get bloodied again in the Den." I realised that he had a point and that I should wait until we finished with the Den. I picked up my staff from the ground and waited for the others. Nar finally returned, his hands covered with blood and other foul liquids. Alakan could not hide the disgust from his features at the site. Nar spoke to us as he walked towards the caves, "I think I might be able to change the odds somewhat if it works that is..." I wondered at what he meant but the group just shrugged and we entered the cave mouth.....
Small shafts of light penetrated the cave roof, barely casting enough light to see, causing more shadows than anything else. "Is anyone else having difficulty seeing?" I asked of the others. "No." Answered Ariana, "I have no problems with the dark." "Ow!" i heard in Alakans deep voice, "Well I do! And I don't have any torches on me." I smilled a little in the dark, "No need, I can help." I ran my hand over the top of my staff, and called on some energy, binding it to the top of my staff, it emitted enought light to clearly see at least five metre's ahead. We journeyed deeper into the Den, running into nothing. Suddenly, we all paused, as we heard what sounded like something clacking against the stone ground. Out of the gloom cast by my glowing staff, fleshless animated skeletons stalked towards us, some brandishing swords, axes and clubs, and some also carried all manner of sheilds. Korok lept at the boney creatures, smashing them to peices with his axes, deflecting any and all atacks with easy grace. Alakan joined in with his Maul, crushing skulls and bones. Ariana could do little with her bow so she remained distant, while Nar had his eyes closed. More Skeletons came, as though a never ending number were waiting in the dark. Then i felt faint energies, very subtle ones, being summoned. I looked to see Nar's arms raised towards the cadre of Skeletons. Small red flecks began to appear and spin around a large group of Skeletons, they spun faster and faster, while moving closer to the Skeletons, tighting, untill it seemed to be running over them as a skin. Suddenlt the Skeletons stopped moving, they swayed on the spot, then they collapsed in piles of bones and useless weaponry. Nar sat down, exhausted. Alakan said nothing. While Korok nodded towards Nar, which Nar returned. Korok turned to me and then said, "These caves don't go much farther I'm sure. And I don't think we have the time to wander them. If you have any spells that could clear out these caves? Use them." ...
That's why I missed a day Diary, I cast a powerful fire spell, one that ripped through the caves, I am sure that nothing survived. Considering there was screaming in the caves from other creatures within the caves for hours afterwards. The spell had taken alot out of me, and it took me untill miday today to recover. I'm going to try and get some sleep tonight. We venture back to the Rouge's Camp at first light.
