Date: 3/24/2001 9:07:00 PM The bible says that He will give you no more than you can bear. There are a lot of things that we, as humans beings, believe that is "just too much". But, if we will rely on God to bring us through the problem, then we will eventually see that we were able to handle it after all. As far as good people getting the shaft, most of what you probably feel is the shaft, is something that in the end will make you a lot stronger person than if He just gave you everything on a silver platter. |
Date: 3/24/2001 9:17:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15621 I dont feel as tho i get the shaft...but i see good people who have it rough...and liars, cheaters, and bad people who have everything.....Thanks for the reply....Im glad to know the bible says this...Could you tell me where it says it?...I would like to read it....thank you and God bless |
Date: 3/24/2001 9:35:00 PM Having everything doesn't guarantee happiness. Most of those liars, cheaters, and bad people are those kinds of people because their lives are so empty and devoid of any true meaning or purpose. No one has suffered more than Jesus Christ did in his life, and he is the SON of God. We all have trials, even the best of people, to make us stronger and to keep us reliant upon God to help us overcome our difficulties. |
Date: 3/24/2001 9:36:00 PM Hi: I just happened to come back and check this thread one more time before I retired and saw that you had responded. I read the KJV exclusively and have since I was a kid. As a matter of fact, the bible that I am reading this from, I got for Christmas in 1960. I have others, this was just handy. You will find in first Corinthians, l0:13, it says: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but wil with the temptaition also make a way to excape, tht ye may be able to bear it. The revised standard version says that He will provide a way of excape, that you may be able to endure it. The good news for modern man says; but at the time you are tempted, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out. We all have felt this way at times. You aren't alone. There are a lot of others that feel the same way. God knows what you can endure, just as He did Job. Your strength doesn't come from you, but from your belief that God can, and will, help you through the problem. I hope this helps. fcor118 |

Also note that God isn't the One who tempts you, it's Satan that does. Even in the case of Job, it was Satan who caused all that stuff to happen to him. God knew Job's heart, however, and allowed it to happen I believe for His glory, and as an encouragement to others who are suffering, to remind them that when things get rough, don't give up, and don't turn your back on God, because you may not know the reason why. ***Jennifer*** |

You know sixgun, this is a question I have ask myself many times. I have thought for sure God was putting more on me than I could handle but I always survived and I always learned something and became stronger. I've lost a LOT in the last few years, and it has been hard but it has also been good for me. Even a year ago, I wouldn't have thought this way though. I couldn't see or even imagine that I would even feel as well as I do now. I was suffering too much to be able to see God's plan in it. I have struggled with health issues MANY, MANY, years now but some of the things I have learned about this are these - I am a survivor, and God can bring me through anything. I've also learned SO MUCH more about God and my relationship with God has grown in ways it couldn't have. Yes, bad things happen to good people. I don't know if you agree with my reasoning for this but I think it's a couple of different things. satan brings it because he wants to destroy those who have potential. God allows it though but He will only allow him to go so far. Instead of satan destroying us with this, God wants us to let HIM us this time to REFINE us. The Bible says a LOT about that subject. It says that silver is for the refining pot, but gold is for the FURNACE. Those who have GOLD POTENTIAL will be put into the furnace. Remember God did not deliver Daniel from the lions den but he DID deliver Daniel from the lions. Shadrak, Meshak, and Abednego (spelling ???) were put in a literal furnace. God did not deliver them from it but He DID deliver them from being destroyed by it. He also walked in the furnace WITH them. Refinement is kind of like bootcamp too. In order to become a GOOD soldier in this spiritual warfare we fight each and every day, we MUST go through bootcamp first. Imagine being sent out without bootcamp??? Although bootcamp is really hard, we MUST have it. The Navy Seals even have a tougher bootcamp. They are the ELITE so their training must be different. The training they get is much harder than most soldiers could EVER endure but they MUST have this training in order to become the kind of soldier they need to be. This is how I look at things in my life. Not that I have any gold qualities or could even think of becoming one of God's elite but the things I have gone through HAVE helped me. It has taught me to be more focussed on God and to die more to myself. I needed that... |

Date: 3/25/2001 5:22:00 AM From Authorid: 10798 All I know, Sixgun, is in this world we all suffer. Everybody has problems, and I mean everybody. When mankind brought sin into the world, it brought with it suffering and ultimately death. Add to this, the enemy is constantly bombarding the child of God with problems. God allows this and uses these problems to help us (His children, those who serve Him) to grow, to teach us faith and patience, even to correct us at times. You see, God wants us to trust Him and to turn fully to Him in times of trouble. If we really trust in Jesus Christ and lose ourselves in Him so to speak, we can go through anything and bear anything. God did not promise us a life free of trouble, He just promised to be with us in trouble. Jesus said He would be with us always, even to the ends of the world. The Holy Spirit is our comfort and our sustainer. Troubles and trials can either make us stronger and closer to God, or break us completely, depending on our attitude and the way we react to them. We must react by plunging into God and immersing ourselves in Him. When burdens are overwhelming...hit the floor on your knees and stay there! Pray, pray, pray! and fast, and meditate on the things of God. Get involved in the problems of others. The answer WILL come in God's own time. I know it's hard to be patient when you're hurting, but God's timing is perfect |
Date: 3/25/2001 1:35:00 PM From Authorid: 11528 2 Thoughts come to mind here Sixgun. One is that the good people, and I think You mean the Christians by that, draw negaqtive energies to them because they seem preoccupied by negative energies. They are always anticipating an attack of something bad and so create thier own misfortunes. Non believers dont dwell on the good and bad thoughts so less bad things occur to them. I myself since becoming a non believer have had such a string of good things happen and no bad luck that it seems that my misfortunes or bad luck were coming my way because i expected them to. Sort of a create your own misfortune type of a situation. I hope You can understand what I mean by that. Let me rephrase that. When I was a Christian I expected the devil to rise up against me because the bible told me he would. I believed it so since I was expecting bad things to happen , they did. Sort of like positive thinking. I got what I expected to get. |
Date: 3/25/2001 2:36:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15621 Enki...by good people I didnt mean christians my friend...I meant good honest working sincere people......believing or non-believing |
Date: 3/25/2001 4:10:00 PM From Authorid: 16671 I've wondered about this often also, my buddy, and it seems like sometimes I feel like I have had more than I can stand but ya know, through it all, I still have stood. And of course being a child of God, satan will come against one more than usual. This is where we need to take up the whole armor of God and learn how to do warfare against the spirits that would come against us. For satan comes, to steal, kill and destroy. But ya know, the bottom line is rather we get the short end of the stick, or riches and fame, WE KNOW where we will go when the end is here. Its not what we have or what we recieve, it the end result and had we not chosen Jesus, where would we go??????????? You know the answer to this and although things may seem to be really tough right now and you dont think you can stand any more, you need to do what God says to do, " When you have done all you can to stand, STAND THEREFORE" I'll be praying for you buddy. |

Hi Six Gun..Here are a couple things that I’ve learned.. 1.When men stop believing in God,they will start believing in anything... 2.I’ve learned that with faith, you can keep going long after you can’t. 3.I’ve learned that your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace..Also..God says that it rains both on the righteous and the unrighteous..Really I don't think the righteous gets the worse end of the stick because they have God and God helps them through all things..In the O.T. God used Job's sufferings for our sakes..God shows us that if Job could endure all he went through and still remain faithful then we should be able to remain faithful through our trials..In such a short amount of time,Job lost everything he had, from his riches down to his family, his health,or anything else he had..Our losses or trials comes in moderations and are usually caused by natural occurences or because of mankind and/or ourselves..Job had no idea why he was suffering so..One more point..Did you notice that of all the men of God,that it was only Job who went through so very much?..God didn't let Abraham,Moses,Joseph, etc go through such things.. He knew each person and knew what these godly people were capable of handling..God used each of His servants for our example, according to what they were capable of doing..I look at it this way..God let Job suffered so very much for an example for us.God also double Job's faithfulness and his reward is great in heaven..Sincerely Rusure |
Date: 3/26/2001 1:18:00 AM From Authorid: 27678 The Bible does say that many are the troubles of the righteous, but God always provides an avenue of escape. When it seems things are at their worse, you can be sure there is a big blessing around the corner. I think bad things happen to everyone, but it seems worse when it appears to "happen to good people". Perhaps it is God's way to increase our faith, so we can develope strong character in order to help others. Cause if we've been there, done that, we are more effective in understanding other people's problems and can be an asset the them. Personally, I've been homeless, unemployed, a homeowner and successful. My husband has been framed, jailed, aquitted, injured on the job, ran for a political office, had his own business and we've gone through a whole gambit of experiences - it seems like more than the average person. We feel it's because we can be more helpful to others by really knowing what they are going through by our own experience. Free Girl |
Date: 3/26/2001 1:39:00 PM God doesn't put more on you that you can bear. You are his child and he loves you. Being a father, he will give us enough to teach us to grow, but not enough to break us. Just as you will not put more on your children than they can bear, but enough to teach them...that's how God treats us |

Date: 3/26/2001 2:44:00 PM From Authorid: 28717 I think that what God has planned for a person may be for them or in some cases for what others may do in reaction to that person's misfortune. Job never lost his faith in the goodness of God, but look how poorly his family and his friends handled the situation. If Job buckled under and held bitterness or went mad, God was using him for a greater purpose and so his reward was awaiting him already. Not so with those who mistreated Job ( they were puffed up in pride thinking how good they were to to have deserved such a fate). God Himself knows we are but human with all our weaknesses, but our heart is known only to Him. What appears to us on the outside as "caving in" or "lost faith" just may not be the true heart of the man(woman). What may seem misfortune to the outsider just may be what God ordered for His reason. Remember Paul, in spite of all his suffering, still rejoiced> In is for our good if we try to be as he was, even if we fall short. God alone still knows if we tried, and that is what counts.
